I got it last summer and I asked the same question on the official discord not reddit because I didn't know if I should buy it, if it's even fun or just a quick 20 hour game and then uninstall, well, I got into rust without knowing anything, I literally knew nothing about the gameplay, I just saw it on steam and got it. You should 110% get rust, and dont be afraid to play solo and lose it all. So many experiences to be had. You can interact with so many players, I made so many friends from rust, it's a very very cool game, I recommend buying it, get familiarized with it and if you like it, you could ask a friend to join you, it will so much more fun togeter, but even solo (150 of my hours are solo) it's damn fun.
