However the trip for me was tainted by a large group of about four families drinking and being loud into the early hours. There are lots of things to do in and around the area and the play park for the children is a good size. Spend your evenings in one of these Rosedale Abbey campsites.

Dog friendly.Small certificated campsite and adjacent shepherd's hut on a working farm close to Dalby Forest.Camping and touring with glamping in a shepherd's hut just for grown-ups, in the North York Moors. There are 150 touring pitches, 50 with hardstanding and 10A electricity connections. The site itself in fantastic in my opinion, well laid out, large area for the children, with football goals, climbing frames etc. Family and dog friendly. The site is well ran, well laid out and set in a wonderful village surrounded by lots of walks. Ideally located for the coast and local site seeing all within car travelling distance. Give it a try .Forget mobile and Wifi signals as you are located in the base of a valley.We stayed for 2 x nights in a motorhome, on the last pitch available. Locally a couple of pubs in walking distance ( one immediately opposite the site ) we went to a few times - good food and beers. Rosedale Abbey Caravan Park is open from: 2020; 13th March - 25th October 2021: 19th March - 25th October Holiday Cottages are available for hire all year round. During the Covid 19 crisis the extreme measures they went too ,to protect their customers was first class with sanitizing gel at all key areas , immaculate clean toilet ( with Covid measures).

2 cafes in the village - one selling small provisions. When we were there it was busy during the school holidays and during "Lock down".
