We don't see animals die too often, because they are nearly always the innocents in a story.

A very silly festive fairytale for children of all ages, with a no-nonsense (in the primmest, properest sense of the word), kick-ass heroine, set in a world that looks remarkably like ours, in a thaumaturgical, Victorian Gothic kind of way, considering it's actually a disc balanced on some elephants, which are balanced on a turtle. The layout of the original letter and Viriginia Prood's letter in the Hogfather are almost identical.
There was no feeling of Ankh-Morpork as the sprawling whore of a city she is--this could've been a Dickens set, reused. Was this review helpful? “human beings make life so interesting. I'm being unfair, there are two or three things that are right with this TV adaptation. The visual jokes were hilarious i.e. " Some liberties were taken with the plot, but overall the story was given the care it deserved and the the acting was solid.

But Hogfather plays in such a slow tempo, that it the story could have put in just 2 hours, which would speed up the story. Getting it right for everyone, impossible. This was like watching Eragon or Narnia. Too much weight is given to something that doesn't advance the plot.
The contents are quite different however. In addition it is an obvious play on "Hogwash" or "rubbish". The references to Spot (the Dog that Banjo will be getting) are to the primary school readers Arnold Sideways the crippled hobo says "And god bless us, every one," which is the final line uttered by Tiny Tim (who is also a cripple) in Charles Dickens' The U.S. debut was on 25 November, 2007 on ION Television, the Australian on 23 December and the 24 December, 2007 on Channel Seven, and the German on 25 December, 2007 on ProSieben. By kidnapping and holding hostage the tooth fairy in order to use children's teeth to control their belief. Nicholas Tennant as Nobby, too, was brilliantly cast. The movie is very dark throughout, and moves at an incredibly slow pace. Tony Robinson had it handled and the uninitiated will be going "who are these people, because clearly I'm supposed to know them." As Pratchett says elsewhere, fantasy is an exercise bicycle for the mind; it doesn't take you anywhere, but it tones up muscles that might.

Hogfather is 2 times one and a half hour. Humans can do bad things and deserve their nasty fates, whereas … I'm a big fan of the Discworld, and have been hoping for a film/TV series for many years now. Was this review helpful? It comes out like a bunch of adults making stupid faces. I need not have worried. Before I begin, I have to say that I have not read a single terry Pratchett book, but I love fantasy movies and the trailers made it look really good. However I was pleased to give this, made for TV, movie 8 of 10 for a sterling effort. Adapting Terry Pratchett's work for TV is a difficult task. There is no listing here. do you know, that in a universe so full of wonders, they have managed to invent boredom. Death takes Hogfather's place to deliver presents to all the children at the mid-winter festival. And I disagree heavily with Nobby Nobbs.
I am indeed a fan of Terry Pratchett, however, I am a critical fan. Disappointing to someone who knows how Pratchett can make a joke about the most serious elements of the human condition and distill it into what we all share as humans. I thought the in-jokes from other Pratchett books clever but i missed a couple of them as i haven't read all of his books yet. This is the best Adaption of a book to movie I have seen, It is obvious Mr Pratchett and Mr Paul Kidby were closely involved in the making right down to the costumes and set design.
It is written by Virginia Prood, a reference to the letter Virginia O'Hanlon wrote to the New York Sun on Sept 21st, 1897.
