I really enjoy Oriental Garden's version, as it's stuffed not only with ground pork and lup cheong (Chinese sausage) but also dried shrimp and mushrooms–very tasty, although not very photogenic. Was craving dimsum but was pretty disappointed from this spot.

Shanghai You Garden offers the best Shanghainese food and Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) in NYC. Dim sum was a popular family tradition, growing up in Hawaii with easy access to Chinatown, so I've always sought out dim sum in the various places I've lived.

Based on some recent reviews, it seems like things have been going downhill - and based on my own experiences with takeout, I'm taking a star off. The rest were very dependable dim sum staples. And it's not high end, so it can't come close to the dim sum I loved at San Francisco's Harbor Village before it closed. You can call and place an order via phone, they give you a number and an estimated time the food will be ready.
