But you won't have to do it alone. 100 years on, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and New Zealand Post mark the centenary of the First World War and the signing of the Armistice on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month 1918 with a commemorative circulating legal tender 50 cent coin. Anzac Day is a national day of commemoration observed on 25 April each year. To commemorate this important centenary and honour those who served, a series of official stamps and legal tender commemorative coins have been issued. It commemorates those who died serving New Zealand during war while honouring returned and current servicemen and women, past and present. New Zealand's Roaring Chorus connects with a campaign led by the United Kingdom, supported by Germany, inviting nations to participate in international bellringing. However, public events in some centres – notably Auckland – were more subdued due to the deadly influenza pandemic that was then sweeping the country. After the Second World War the Dominions, including New Zealand, decided to change its name to Remembrance Day and observe it on the Sunday preceding the 11th (later moved to the second Sunday in November).
